Peter M. “Junior” Muise 12/24/2013 Gloucester, MA

GLOUCESTER: Peter M. “Junior” Muise, 87, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Hurst) Muise, who died in July of 2006. They had shared fifty-five years of marriage.
Born in Gloucester on February 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Peter M. and Blanche V. (Wagner) Muise. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and graduate of the Gloucester High School.
At the beginning of World War II, he was attending school for diesel engineering and left to enlist in U.S. Navy. He served as a motor machinist mate third class and was aboard the LST 400, having landed in Normandy. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946.
As a commercial lobsterman, Junior owned the f/v Sue Ken Jo. He later went on to hold many positions in his life including working for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Connecticut, driving taxi for the Yankee Cab Company, and delivering Anadama Bread. He had also been a cook at the Huntress Home and fish cutter for Atlantic Seafoods and Turner Fisheries. Most recently, he was employed in environmental services at Addison Gilbert Hospital, until his retirement.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, SueAnn Madruga and Jo-Ann and William T. Searcy, Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth, Sr. and Deborah Muise; six grandchildren, Michael, husband of Melinda Madruga of Peabody, Lisa Madruga, USAF, San Antonio, TX, Jason Madruga, Kendra, wife of Greg Romanuk, Kenneth Muise, Jr., fiancé of Nicole Duchane and Kimberly Muise, fiancée of Lenny Ciaramitaro; six great-grandchildren, David Mattson and Zackary Hendrickson, Jacob Romanuk, Jeffrey and Julianna Madruga and Teagen Ciaramitaro; a sister, Winnie Hemmer, sisters-in-law, Rosamond Muise of Colorado, Judy, wife of Tom Cocoran, Shirley, wife of John Moore, and Claire Hurst, a brother-in-law, James, husband of Janice Hurst; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his son-in-law, Virgilio J. Madruga; two sisters, Annie “Rose” Nunes and Doris Roberts, and two brothers, William and Richard Muise.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3 – 6 p.m. in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy made by made to the charity of one’s choice.
