St. Johnsbury, VT — Isaac Patch IV, also known as Big Ike, died peacefully on May 31, 2014, in St Johnsbury, Vt. He was 101. Ike was born in the family home in Gloucester, Mass., the third generation of Isaacs to have lived in that town. His father, a lawyer and banker, was mayor of Gloucester for two years. His uncle, A. Piatt Andrew, a U.S. Congressman, also served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under President Taft and founded the American Field Service, a volunteer ambulance service in WWI.
