GLOUCESTER: Gerald W. “Jerry” Silveira, 64, died Saturday, November 22, 2014 in the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Gloucester on December 13, 1949, he was the beloved son of the late Carolyn M. (Scroggins) Campbell and Manuel Silveira. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. Jerry was well known in local sporting circles and was named honorary coach of many softball teams. In his youth, he was also a proud member of the Boy Scouts, Troop #66. He loved talking sports with his many dear friends. He is survived by his two brothers, Charles “Skip” Campbell and James “Jay Campbell and his wife, Yuri; his sister, Valerie E. Elliott; two nieces, Amanda and Emily Elliott; a nephew, Drew Elliott and his fiancée, Alexis Starbird. Jerry’s family would like to thank the Lake family, especially Nancy, a longtime friend and companion with whom they shared many special memories together as they lived and took care of each other. Jerry was a very, very special son, brother, uncle and friend and will be sadly missed by all who loved him. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
