West Peabody, MA — Peter Carl Christensen, 61, of West Peabody, passed away peacefully after a short illness early Thursday morning, August 2, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Winsted, CT, he is the son of the late Carl P. and Jeanette R. (Pellens) Christensen. Peter resided most of the first half of his life in Manchester-by-the-Sea with his parents. Pete was well known around town as a very friendly and outgoing young man. A gentle soul he loved to rub soft heads — especially those of babies, puppies and kittens. For the second half of his life Pete resided in group homes that are part of the Northeast Arc, which provides lifelong support for people with disabilities. His present home is at 6 Intervale Terrace in West Peabody, His house mates and staff are his second family. Some he has lived with for over 15 years. He is known there as an exceptionally funny and friendly guy. Peter worked for many years at Morgan Memorial with occasional placements in the community. He most recently attended Meridian Day Habilitation where he had many friends and acquaintances.
