Catherine (Militello) Cusumano, 87, wife of John Cusumano of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017. She was born in Trappeto, Sicily on September 22, 1929, daughter of Antonino and Crocifessa (LoGrande) Militello. Catherine was a loving, caring, compassionate, woman whose home was always open to her family and friends. She loved cooking Sunday dinner, saying the Novena, crocheting and knitting blankets and baby sweaters for all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members. She was a member of the Madonna Del Rosario Society, the Mother of Grace Club and the Figlie De Trappeto. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years, John Cusumano of Gloucester; two sons, Philip Cusumano and his wife, Patricia, Anthony Cusumano and his wife, Grace; three daughters, Josephine Harnish and her husband, Robert, Christine Leveille and her husband, David, all of Gloucester, and Grace Coots and her husband, John of Benton, Arkansas, Grace Cottone, whom she raised as a daughter and her husband, Frank “Nino”; eight grandchildren, John Cusumano, Catherine Cusumano, Robert Harnish, John Harnish and his wife, Meaghan, Brian Harnish and his wife, Breanne, David Leveille, Jennifer Currier and her husband, Brent, Katelyn Pinkham and her husband, Corey; nine great-grandchildren, Maliyah Harnish, Jackson and Reese Harnish, Brodie and Brielle Harnish, Colton and Cooper Currier, William and Nellie Pinkham; great-nephew and great-nieces, Al Cottone and his wife, Isabel, Josie Cottone and her companion, Jim Smith, Fran Salah and her husband, Scott; sisters-in-laws, Ann-Grace Militello and Rosalie Militello; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Girolama Groppo and her husband, Matteo; brothers, Frank Militello and wife, Antonette, Michael Militello and wife, Vincie, Matteo Militello and wife, Caterina, Salvatore Militello and Santo Militello; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Filippo and Grazzia (Russo) Cusumano; sisters-in-law, Maria Lombardi and her husband, Aldo, Vita Cusumano and her husband, Giocchino; and brother-in-law, Pedro Sanfilippo and his wife, Giuseppa. Her funeral will be held from the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Wednesday, March 29, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass celebrated in St. Ann’s Church, Holy Family Parish at 9:30 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited.
