Gloucester, MA — William Clarke Jr., 78, of Gloucester, wife of Jeanne (Veator) Clarke, passed away on the evening of January 6,2013, in the Seacoast Nursing & rehabilitation Center, Gloucester, with his loving family at his side. Bill was born in Gloucester, MA, on February 2, 1934, the son of the late W.M. Clarke and Aino (Yrjola) Clarke. Bill was a graduate of Gloucester High School with the Class of 1952.He worked as a mechanic for Sudbay’s Automotive Group for many years, and also as a driver for J. P. Trucking. A lover of music, he and Jeanne loved going to Blue Grass Festivals throughout Maine and New Hampshire in their earlier years while traveling in their Winnebago. An avid reader, you could always find him with a book in his hand and his dog “Corey” by his side. His love for reading led to his knowledge in many different subjects which kept him occupied throughout his later years. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Bill is survived by his wife Jeanne, whom he was married to for 27 years, a daughter Kathy Clarke of Ipswich, a son, Michael Clarke and his wife, Susan, of Lewisville, TX, a step daughter, Lisa Doucette and her husband James, of Gloucester, a step son, Scott Luongo and his wife, Mimi of Gloucester; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Colin Clarke of TX. He also leaves a very good friend, “Goody” of Gloucester.
