He lived his life to the fullest surrounded by multitudes of friends and family. In addition to the love of his life, his daughter, Lauren McNair (“Punkin Pie”), he leaves his wife, Carole McNair and his stepsons, Christopher Hoffman, married to Pooja (Shah) Hoffman, and Zachary Hoffman and his partner, Makenna Murray. Mike also leaves behind his father, Murray McNair; his sister, Robin McNair; and brother, Scot McNair, married to Kathy McNair. He was predeceased by his mother, Eunice (Green) McNair. He was loved by his in-laws, Carroll McMillan and wife, Esther (Cunningham) McMillan, as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. We trust that Mike will rest in paradise with a golf club in his hand, his feet in the sand, strumming a guitar, and singing his heart out, not necessarily all at the same time. He proved that anyone can do anything they want as long as they put their heart and soul into it. Mike would not like to be remembered for his cancer, so we will remember him instead by the many ways and many times that he brought love and laughter into so many peoples' lives. At Mike’s request, there will be no funeral services. We are planning a celebration of life on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to Action, Inc., 180 Main Street, Gloucester, MA 01930, where Mike was happily employed for the most recent years. Born in Lewiston, Maine on January 31, 1941, to the late George H. Estes and Gertrude (Burgess) Estes, Gard, or as many knew of him as “Clint”, was a resident of Gloucester for over forty years. Although Gard’s lifelong career as a self-employed Carpenter is known throughout our community, the North Shore, and Boston, including The Prudential Building, he also held multiple other skills that included working a Maine cemetery/crematorium as a young man, and horse training, to which he was masterly skilled at. An avid hunter throughout most of his life, Gard was an advocate to his family on the education, safety, protection, and respect of firearms control. Gard was simply by the book. In addition to his passion for his Pammy, Gard held an undying perseverance in preserving and sharing the story of his great friends who heroically lost their lives at sea on the Can-Do Pilot Boat, in a rescue mission, during the Blizzard of ’78, through assisting with the accurate account of events as written in the book “Ten Hours Until Dawn”, to which Gard received a Massachusetts Official Citation in recognition of his continued efforts. Gard is predeceased by the love of his life, Pamela E. (Andersen) Giamanco “Lovee”, his companion of 36 years, and is survived by his children, Sherry L. Estes of Gloucester, and her partner Mark Luse; Joseph V. Giamanco of Virginia, and his wife, Allison Giamanco; his grandchildren whom he adored, Travis Landes of Ipswich; Jacob and Joshua Giamanco of Gloucester; and Hailey Akers of Virginia. In Memoriam of Robert McLean Olson, 58 years young, of Gloucester and Rockport. Rob passed away unexpectedly on March 8th 2017 of complications from multiple strokes. Rob was a true character, loved and adored by everyone who knew him. A man with a heart and mustache the size of Texas. No matter what was happening in his life he managed to chuckle and find the humor in things. He always kept a positive attitude and had a willingness to help anyone who needed it. Everyone who knew Rob has a funny Rob story; he was just one of those guys that made life fun. Rob graduated from Rockport High School in 1976, and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. During his time in the Coast Guard he spent a few years in paradise on the island of YAP. After the Coast Guard he spent years saltwater fishing in all parts of the world, except the Indian Ocean. He loved his family and the water fiercely. Rob even had a part in the film, The Perfect Storm. He married Rebecca, and got his daughter Ellie in the package. To complete the family, their son, Charley, was born soon after. He worked as a carpenter and painter for years, and with his wife for her gardening and design business. Rebecca introduced him to the Adirondack Mountains and they spent a lot of time there exploring the wilderness with their family. Home with his family and friends is where he loved to be the most, whether watching a Patriots Game or sitting outside by a bonfire. Rob marched to the beat of his own drum, his mother once commented, “I think he even made the drum.” Rob is preceded in death by his parents Thor and Jean Olson and nephew Michael Olson all of Rockport and is survived and surrounded by so many family and friends, his beloved wife Rebecca Olson, son Charley Olson and daughter, Ellie Olson all of Gloucester; brothers, Thor B Olson Jr, Jack Olson and wife Mary Jane, Rick Olson and wife, Nancy, Sisters Sue Waddell and husband, Bill, Sally Budrow and husband, Tom, Kathy Taylor and husband, Steve all of Rockport. Much beloved nephews Dan, Jeff, Tom, Jason and Kevin Olson, Greg Waddell and nieces, Jaci MacDowell, Amy Rose, Sara Turunen, Liz Harrington, Julie Brown, Thora and Niki Taylor.
