Mrs. Judith M. (Leino) Silva, 79, of Gloucester, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 13, 2017, in Addison Gilbert Hospital. She was the loving wife of Robert L. Silva, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Judith was born July 14, 1937, in Gloucester. She was the daughter of the late Eino and Ellen (Flaherty) Leino. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and attended Gloucester Schools. Judith was a stay-at-home mom and cared for her family. She was a longtime volunteer at Cape Ann Animal Aid and was a seasonal worker at Good Harbor Inn for many years. She enjoyed cooking, going to the beach, animals and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always there for everyone and was a great listener. In addition to her loving husband, Robert, Judith is survived by her children, Cynthia Clayton and her husband, Rick of Gloucester, Roberta Cousins and her husband, Richard of Gloucester, Barry Silva and his fiancé, Mindy Moore of Salisbury and Jennifer Verga of Gloucester. She was the devoted grandmother to Monique and Jacob Verga, Richard Clayton, Rebecca Groves and her husband, Bart, Amanda Silva and Amy Silva. She is also survived by her two cherished great-grandchildren, Maddison Groves and Nevaeh Silva. In honoring Judith’s wish, funeral services will be private. There will be a graveside service in Beechbrook Cemetery, West Gloucester at the end of April. Donations in Judith’s memory may be made to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 1 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
