John P. Lane, Jr., "Sean," 56, of Gloucester, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, in Beverly Hospital. Sean was born February 27, 1961, in Lansing, Mich. He was the son of Constance (Gould) “Connie” Lane of Gloucester and the late Dr. J. Perry Lane. He was a resident of Gloucester for most of his life. A graduate of Gloucester High School, he went on to further his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. He worked for many years roofing at Stanley Roofing Company. He was a hard-worker and a talented builder, he had many projects which he designed and built himself. He was always willing to lend a hand and help a friend. He enjoyed traveling, camping and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending his free time on the water, lobstering, fishing or simply relaxing. In addition to his mother, Connie, Sean is survived by his two daughters, Emma Lane of Cambridge and Victoria Lane of Austin, Texas; his longtime companion, Kathleen Hilton of Gloucester; and his brother, Patrick Lane and his wife, Noreen Lane of Raynham, Mass. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Dr. J. Perry Lane, and his brothers, James Lane and Frederick Lane. Sean’s Memorial Service will be in Trinity Congregational Church, 70 Middle St., Gloucester, on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery in Freeport, Maine, in June. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sean’s memory may be made to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
