Margaret Buckley Fonseca, 97, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at Bay Path Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duxbury following a brief illness. Born and raised in Dorchester, Margaret was the daughter of John and Ellen Buckley and the last of 11 siblings. In her youth and throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire and other places with her sister, Mary. She graduated from Jermiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. She was a resident of Gloucester for many years and had a small restaurant with her husband, John, before moving to Quincy and working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Later moving to Braintree, Margaret was an avid sports fan who loved the Red Sox and Patriots and paid close attention to world events. Kind and loving, Margaret was fond of spending time with her family and is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Logan of Pembroke; son, John Oliver Fonseca, Jr. of Quincy; granddaughters, Nicole Logan Riley of Hanson and Jill Livermore Freedman of Hanover; as well as two great-grandsons, Ben and Daniel Freedman. A private grave site service and burial were held at Mount Saint Benedict in West Roxbury.
