Gloucester, MA — Elizabeth C. Enos, 86, of Gloucester, passed away on March 28, 2014. She was born in Gloucester on May 19, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Harriett (Carter) Enos. Liz moved to Essex as a young child. Her family later settled in West Gloucester, where she attended the West Gloucester, two-room Bray School. She graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1945, as a Sawyer Medal recipient. For many years, Liz worked in Gloucester for the Prudential Insurance Co. She later moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked for the Department of the Navy in the personnel department. Her ability to hire and place employees within the department led her to become a Navy recruiter. She traveled all over the state of West Virginia, and often spoke on radio stations and at high schools to describe the types of clerical positions that were available in the D.C. area. Liz loved her job, but the constant traveling began to be too much for her, and so she returned to Gloucester. She worked for Sylvania, several local attorneys, Gloucester District Court, The Industrial Cab Co. in Essex, and finally retired to care for her ailing mother. Liz’s favorite place in the world, except for her home, was Rockport, Mass., where she would visit as often as possible. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothea (Enos) Presutti, wife of the late Claude Presutti of Essex, and Helen (Kay) Schuster and her husband, Wes, of Gloucester; a niece, Jodi (Presutti) Harris and her husband, Daniel F. Harris IV of Essex; a nephew, Dean A. Presutti and his wife, Kimberly, of Byfield; nephew, Richard Jameison and his wife, Jackie; and niece, Rhonda Murry, all of Gloucester. She also left her great-niece, Kate (Harris) Mineo and her husband, Nate; and her great-nephew Alex, all of Essex.
