Gloucester, MA — Katherine A. “Kit” (Barry) Abrahamson, 105, of Gloucester, wife of the late James Abrahamson passed away on Friday afternoon, February 15, 2013 at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gloucester, MA on March 5, 1907, daughter of the late Michael and Bridget (O’Halloran) Barry. Kit was employed at Addison Gilbert Hospital as a nurse’s aide then as a Clerk for the State House in Boston, having retired when she was 70 years old. She attended Miss Tina’s School of Dance, where she loved line dancing and had participated in Miss Tina’s recitals for over 40 years. Kit never went anywhere without being impeccably dressed, everything always had to match just so. She also enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and gambling with family and friends. Kit will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Santos and her husband Joseph of St. Petersburg, FL and Janice Hurst and her husband James of Gloucester; four grandchildren, James Hurst and his companion Lise Witcher, Keri Russo and her husband Peter, Bethany Hurst and her companion Brett O’Neal and Jill Maguire and her companion John Naves all of Gloucester; four great-grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Megan and Peter Russo all of Gloucester; her brother, Joseph Barry and his wife Sebina of New Hampshire and her very good friend, Joan Sikorski of Gloucester and by many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by six brothers, James, Patrick, Michael, William, John and Richard Barry; six sisters, Eleanor Barry, Margaret Barrett, Cecila Daley, Ann Wood, Agnes Balestraci and Elizabeth Collins.

GLOUCESTER: Frances C. “Francie” Linquata, 71, died early Tuesday morning, February 19, 2013 at the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Born in Gloucester on June 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances V. (Saputo) Linquata. She was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools. Francie was a graduate of the Mansfield Beauty Academy and worked for many years at the former House of Robel. She had also been employed as a van driver for Pathways. She is survived by nieces, Dolores Sheehan and her sons, John Sheehan, and Michael Sheehan, who is also Francie’s godson, Gina, wife of James Barrett and their children, Brian Barrett, fiancé of Samantha Frontiero, and Vanessa Barrett; a grandniece, Jennifer Thompson; her brother, Sebastian “Arizona” Linquata, husband of Natalie; sister-in-law, Marie (Aiello) Linquata and her children; aunts and uncles, Nina, wife of Paul Conti, Katherine “Katie” Mitchell, and Thomas, husband of Josephine “Fini” Linquata; many dear friends, godchildren and cousins, including her dear cousins, Kathleen, wife of John Scola, Pauline Scola, Maryann, wife of Bill Porper, Angeline Verga, Fina Nicastro; and her beloved dog, Rusty. She was also predeceased by her brother, Louis F. Linquata; sister, Geraldine “Mamie” Thompson; and her nephew, John Thompson, III; and a dear cousin, John J. Saputo. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Please omit flowers. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.

GLOUCESTER: Deborah A. (Bradford) Leck, 57, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Gloucester on April 8, 1955, she was the daughter of the late John and Doris (Paynotta) Bradford. Debbie worked at many jobs including operating a game booth at the carnival. She will be remembered as a loving person with a feisty personality. While she was never afraid to speak her mind, she was the type of person to give you the shirt off her back. She is survived by her daughter, Amanda J. Leck, two grandchildren; a sister, Dianne Rowe; her fiancé, John Drolet; a niece, nephew, several cousins and many dear friends who will all greatly miss her. In keeping with her wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There are no visiting hours. In lieu flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.

Charles Robert Del Torchio Sr., 91
Essex — Charles Robert Del Torchio Sr., 91, born in Gloucester, son of the late Charles and Blanche (Anstess) Del Torchio and husband of Seraphina (Chianciola) Del Torchio. Bob graduated from GHS in 1939, where he was a captain in the ROTC, and won many awards and medals on Field Day that year. Following graduation from BU in journalism, Bob joined the Merchant Marines during World War II and served in the European Theatre. He later returned to Gloucester where he founded Cape Ann Seafoods. He later became the manager of the New England Fish Company of Seattle, Washington, managing the East Coast Fresh Seafood operations and also the Woods Harbor Fisheries operations out of Nova Scotia until his retirement. However, retirement was short lived since Bob then went into selling real estate for Essex Realty. Bob was a true outdoorsman who loved working in his vegetable and flower gardens. His passion was blueberry picking in Dogtown Common until he was in his eighties. Bob was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge for 65 years and served as a member of the Gloucester Community Fish Pier Association for many years.

Helen C. Brownlie, 91
Rockport, MA — Helen C. (Henderson) Brownlie, wife of the late George Brownlie, Jr., died peacefully at Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on February 20, 2013, just one week before her 92nd birthday. She was born on February 27, 1921, in Beverly, MA, to the late Alexander and Ellen (Craig) Henderson. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1938, and helped her parents run the Larcom Cottage in Beverly Farms for several years before entering Beverly Hospital School of Nursing for her RN, where she graduated in 1945. She married George in 1946 and began raising a family in Beverly Farms. They moved to Little Silver, NJ, in 1957 when George was transferred to NYC for his job. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and did extensive research on her family tree. She was even able to travel to Scotland to meet many of her relatives. She loved to travel and was able to visit almost every state in the USA. She was greatly interested in architecture and design and helped design 2 houses that they built and then resided in. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, furniture refinishing and many other crafts. She remained in New Jersey until 2007, when her health required more care, and she moved back to Massachusetts to the Herrick House in Beverly, and to be closer to family. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Cornell and her husband Robert, of Rockport; sons, Donald and his companion Martha Blaylock, of Tulsa, OK; Douglas, of Crested Butte, CO; David and his wife Yvette, of Harwich; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie Cornell of Cambridge, MA, Alyssa Mihal of St Louis, MO, Ian Brownlie of Reinholds, PA, Amanda Frank of Denver, CO, and Rebekah Clark, of Acton, ME; 2 great-granddaughters, Tara & Sydney and a niece and nephew. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a baby sister, Jean and sister Dorothy.
Robert Allyn Bosselman 2/10/2013 Gloucester, MA
Gloucester — Robert Allyn Bosselman, 93, passed away early Sunday morning, February 10, 2013, at Addison Gilbert Hospital. He was the husband of the late, Lucienne Marie (Sasco) Bosselman, who died July 4, 2004. They had shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Gloucester on February 16, 1919, he was the son of Hans Otto and Mary Theodora (Anderson) Bosselman. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School, class of 1936. In high school he was a member of the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps, having attained the rank of lieutenant first class. He was also a recipient of the Sawyer Medal. After graduating from Gloucester High School, Bob joined the former Gloucester Electric Company, whose customers are now served by National Grid. After 43 years of employment, he retired as a foreman in 1982. During the 1960s and ’70s he enjoyed making Saturday deliveries on Cape Ann for Ravenswood Spring Water Company. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he enlisted in May of 1944, served in the Pacific Theater, and was honorably discharged as an Electrician’s Mate Third Class in February of 1945. He made passage through Pearl Harbor to the Pacific islands of Eniwetok, Ulithi, and Okinawa. A gifted musician, he played the organ and guitar. In his teens, he was a member of a band that performed on a regional radio program. He was also an avid photographer. Bob and his wife lived their entire lives in Gloucester. Cape Ann was the place they most enjoyed. Putting aside opportunities for advancement elsewhere, they raised their children here, close to family and friends. They hosted many family gatherings in their home and cookouts at Wingaersheek Beach and Stage Fort Park. Bob loved the people and beauty of Cape Ann, and often explored the shore and walked the trails of Dogtown with his family. Following his retirement, Bob and Lucienne traveled extensively, seeing much of the United States, including Hawaii, and visiting relatives and friends in Europe. Bob was a wonderful husband, father and friend to all, and will be greatly missed. He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Bosselman and Linda Bosselman; a son, Robert A. Bosselman Jr. and his dear friend, Janette Elam; five grandchildren, Dianne, wife of Andrew O’Connor, Gregory Johnson, Sarah Tarr, companion of Keith Brown, Emily Tarr, and Andrew Tarr, husband of Jennifer (Rowe) Tarr; six great-grandchildren, Abby, Amy, and Kelly O’Connor, and Logan, Lilith, and Andrew Tarr, Jr. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and Calvin Kendall. ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 at the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester, concluding with shared remembrances for those in attendance. Sarasota, FL — Estelle M. Barrett, 91, of Sarasota, FL, died peacefully, February 2, 2013, after a very full life. The daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian (Abraham) Mulwitz, Estelle was born in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated from Cornell University in 1942. Estelle married the late William H. Barrett and, together with their children, moved to Warsaw, Poland, in 1961 where Mr. Barrett worked as a lawyer with the US Embassy and Estelle served as assistant to the cultural attaché. After her husband’s death, in the early 1970s Estelle moved to Sarasota, FL, where she had a successful real estate career for over 30 years.
